Rivet and CNW Group Announce Partnership
(05/30/2007)

CNW Group and Rivet Software to deliver XBRL solutions under partnership agreement

TORONTO, May 30 /CNW/ - CNW Group, Canada's leading news distributor and communication services provider and Rivet® Software Inc., a leader in interactive business software, today announced a partnership to provide the benefits of interactive data and XBRL® (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) to CNW Group clients.

Under the terms of the agreement, CNW Group clients will have access to Rivet Software solutions and service offerings for the creation, distribution and analysis of XBRL tagged data.

CNW Group clients will be able to take full advantage of interactive data and participate in the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) XBRL Voluntary Filing Program and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Voluntary Filing Program for submitting financial information including quarterly earnings and other regulatory documents in XBRL format.

The partnership agreement will provide CNW clients with access to the following Rivet solutions:

  • Dragon Tag®, a Microsoft® Office-based product for creating instance documents  and company extension taxonomies. Dragon Tag has been used by nearly half of the participants in the SEC Voluntary Filing Program.
  • Dragon View®, a robust XBRL taxonomy and instance document viewer that enables exporting information into Microsoft Excel®. Dragon View formed the basis of the XBRL Web Viewer that Rivet recently developed under contract for the SEC.
  • CrossfireTM Analyst, the first business-focused application to deliver a fully scalable solution that enables organizations to easily collect and analyze XBRL data.
  • CSA Markup Package, an integrated software and service offering for creating and reviewing XBRL financials for submission to the Canadian Securities Administrators.

"Our partnership with Rivet Software gives our clients the ability to mark up and tag their financial information and gives investors and analysts the ability to easily view and analyze that data online in real-time," said Melanie Kurzuk, Senior Vice President, News & Information Technology Division, CNW Group.

"The launch of the CSA Filing Program reinforces the increasing adoption of XBRL in the global marketplace," said Robert Rohan, Executive Vice President of Rivet Software. "We are pleased to partner with an established leader like CNW Group to help drive this momentum throughout Canada."

CNW Group welcomes the announcement earlier this week from the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) regarding the launch of the XBRL Voluntary Filing Program, making XBRL financial statements available to the public through SEDAR.com.

"We believe this technology will be a great step forward in helping investors analyze financial information," said Jean St-Gelais, Chair of the CSA and President & Chief Executive Officer of the Autorité des marchés financiers (Québec). "We are confident that the Canadian marketplace will recognize the benefits to investors of filing in XBRL format."

For more information about the program and to participate, please contact one of the CSA staff members listed on the CSA website: http://www.securities-administrators.ca/industry_resources.aspx?id=54.
