New Product from Rivet Software Simplifies Compliance with Global XBRL Standardization
(11/15/2004)

XBRL International Conference, Brussels, November 15, 2004 - Rivet Software, an innovator in providing Financial Integrity Management solutions, today released the new Dragon Tag™ XBRL enabler, the first easy to use Microsoft Office®   -based solution that takes the complexity out of converting financial statements to industry-standard XBRL documents.  The product will be featured at the XBRL International Conference in Brussels, at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers November 15-19.

As a growing number of governments, regulators and entities such as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the UKs Inland Revenue and Financial Services Authority drive the adoption of XBRL, the vast majority of finance professionals are searching for help in the creation of XBRL reports.  Dragon Tag was designed to shield accounting and finance professionals from the enormous complexity of the XBRL standard, and to make document tagging as easy as using Microsoft Excel(R)TM  or Microsoft Word(R)TM .

"Having the ability to create an XBRL document along with any necessary company taxonomy extensions all within Microsoft Office, Rivet's Dragon Tag marks the next generation of user-friendly XBRL software, said Paul Penler, Chair of XBRL US.

Dragon Tag complies with the latest version of the XBRL Specification (2.1), which enables companies to prepare, publish (in a variety of formats), exchange and analyze financial statements and the information contained therein.  Dragon Tag leverages the power of Microsoft Word and Excel, allowing financial professionals to effortlessly work with XBRL within their familiar Microsoft products.

"We are excited to see the launch of Dragon Tag and its tight integration with Microsoft Office," said Michael Ohata, Director of Business Reporting for Microsoft. "Finance professionals rely on Word and Excel to store and publish large amounts of information, and Dragon Tag helps take this information to a new level."

Meeting the Demands of Finance Professionals
Financial professionals worldwide are facing increased demands, scrutiny and workloads related to new compliance requirements and technologies such as XBRL.  Rivet's focus on Financial Integrity Management encompasses solutions that enable financial professionals to bridge the growing gap between market place demands and lack of available applications.

"Dragon Tag is a perfect example of a Financial Integrity Management application that meets the needs of the financial professional," says Mike Rohan, president of Rivet Software.  "It's ease of use and market leading functionality ensures that users the world over will be able to create XBRL reports in a fraction of the time and complexity it previously took."

Dragon Tag provides the following benefits to help organizations lower adoption hurdles related to XBRL:

  • Supports the latest XBRL industry standard taxonomies such as US GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and IFRS (international financial reporting standards)
Integrates extension taxonomy functionality, allowing users to "customize" an industry taxonomy specific to their reporting needs
  • "Drag and drop" simplicity that allows user to quickly associate XBRL information to existing data
  • Review and validation features to help ensure accuracy prior to creating XBRL documents
  • Allows companies involved with XBRL regulatory filing initiatives such as the US SEC's XBRL Voluntary Financial Reporting Program under the EDGAR System to quickly comply with both voluntary and mandated XBRL reporting standards.
