Mike Rohan – Chairman & Co-founder

With the founding of Rivet Software, Mike adds yet another chapter to a career of helping organizations develop and deploy elegant, powerful and usable financial and business reporting solutions. He was the founder and original developer of FRx Software, which has become the financial reporting mainstay for most of the mid-sized corporations in the US. FRx was purchased by the Microsoft Business Solutions Division in 2000 and continues as a successful company. Mike went from his career beginnings as a CPA to become a manager for the Price Waterhouse & Co. consulting group in San Francisco where he assisted corporations with understanding and implementing automated financial and accounting systems.
 
 

Patrick Quinlan – CEO

Patrick comes to Rivet as a business executive with a proven track record of startup development, funding strategies, and capital investment success. He brings experience in the small and emerging business space and is skilled in executing strategic planning, performing market analysis, and guiding new product development. As the CEO of several successful startups and as a consultant, Patrick has helped many companies build and manage effective sales teams, meet revenue goals, and achieve peak performance. He graduated from the University of Kansas and holds an MBA from Regis University.
 
 

Emily Huang – Co-founder & VP, Business Technology

Emily brings to Rivet Software more than 12 years of experience in developing innovative, enterprise-level Business Intelligence solutions and information delivery strategies. Emily's disciplined approach and energetic leadership is a great asset in setting the development team's strategic and tactical direction. Emily's background, which includes advanced degrees in both Computer and Information Science and Computer Assisted Instruction, gives her a unique ability to design systems that are powerful, efficient and user-friendly. Before becoming a charter member of the Rivet team, Emily served as Director of Development and Director of Business Intelligence at Esurance. She was also principal architect at FRx Software for OLAP, XML-based reporting and Enterprise Bases Open Financial Interfaces.
 
 

Kevin Berens – VP, Products

Over the last 20 years, Kevin has worked in the Business intelligence space (either as a customer or delivering software products).  He has a broad and diverse business background that helped him develop a strong understanding of the management and reporting challenges faced by our customers today. He spent 5 years at American Express/First Data Corporation where as a customer he faced the challenges with reporting tools that our users face each and every day.  Over the last 15 years, he has worked to develop and sell products that help users solve these reporting challenges (both for mid-market and enterprise level customers). Kevin was also a founder of FRx Software Corporation - a Microsoft subsidiary (formerly FRx Software), spending 10 years with varying roles - ranging from Product Specialist to Product Sales Manager to VP of Development. After FRx was purchased by the Microsoft Business Solutions Division in 2000, he continued on with Microsoft with his latest accomplishment being a Lead Program Manager on the PerformancePoint Server team where he helped deliver enterprise level Business Intelligence solutions to the Enterprise Performance Management market.
 
 

Barclay Friesen – VP, Sales & Marketing

Barclay Friesen came to Rivet Software in September of 2009 to lead business development efforts as Director of Sales. As such, he is responsible for creating and implementing strategic marketing initiatives and developing sales strategies across all vertical markets. His experience as a sales professional in both the telecommunications and manufacturing industries is directly translated to his position at Rivet as the challenges inherent in a diverse prospect pool are the same. Prior to joining Rivet, Barclay served as a Vice President of Sales and founder of a successful start up company.


 

Raul Varela, CFA – VP, Strategic Partnerships

Raul Varela joined Rivet Software in November of 2009. He brings a technical perspective and business acumen to his role as VP of Strategic Partnerships. A former project manager, Raul understands the nuances of IT implementation as well as the impact of new technology on the business user. This experience allows him to channel that work into a direct understanding of his clients’ needs and challenges. Prior to joining Rivet, he served in various leadership roles at OppenheimerFunds, Inc., J.D. Edwards and several software companies. He is a graduate of Colorado School of Mines and holds an MBA from the University of Colorado. Raul is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Society of Colorado.


 

Chris Taylor, CPA – VP, Professional Services

Chris Taylor joined Rivet Software in November 2009. As the VP of Professional Services, he is responsible for growing and managing Rivet’s professional services team for its XBRL Compliance and Financial Controller client base. Chris brings more than 25 years of financial and international corporate development to Rivet. He is experienced in consulting & training, software, high-tech manufacturing, natural resources and construction. Prior to joining Rivet, Chris has served as a Controller, Finance Director, and Chief Financial Officer. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University, a certified public accountant, and holds an MBA from Boise State University.


 

Craig Rutherford, CPA – VP, Finance & Administration

Craig Rutherford joined Rivet Software in November of 2009. As Rivet’s VP of Finance and Administration he is responsible for managing the company's financial and administrative operations. His experience in developing finance operations for technology start-ups as well as managing the financial, planning and analysis team for a $1B division of Microsoft Corporation will help to prepare the company for rapid growth and enable Rivet to realize its potential as an industry leader in XBRL and financial reporting. Prior to joining Rivet, Mr. Rutherford held various finance positions with other software companies from Controller to VP of Finance and CFO. He holds B.S. degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Illinois State University and an M.S. in Management from the University of Colorado-Denver. He is a licensed CPA in the state of Colorado.
 
 

Ted Stavropoulos – Director of Business Development

Ted Stavropoulos joined Rivet in December of 2008, bringing with him over 20 years of experience of delivering solutions for accounting and finance professionals. Ted's background includes Technical Sales, Program Management, Product Planning, Product Marketing, Partner Management, Business Development, Management Accounting and Accounting/Reporting Systems Implementations. Before joining the Rivet team, Ted spent 12 years at Microsoft and FRx Software. The last 3 years Ted spent in the Microsoft Server and Tools Business where he led the strategic engagement with industry analysts for Windows Server 2008 and virtualization leading up to the launch. During his time in the Microsoft Business Division and FRx Ted was instrumental in driving the growth of FRx by increasing the number of partners over 500%. While leading product planning Ted defined advanced reporting capabilities, dashboards and integrated the acquisition of budgeting and planning applications to the FRx product line. After moving to Redmond, WA Ted shifted focus to researching end user needs of BI solutions in ERP systems. Prior to Microsoft / FRx Ted also gained valuable experience at KaPRE software, Summit consulting and BDO Seidman.
